Disaster.
Scandal. Extortion. Ruin. No, it’s Cable TV. This film
traces the history of cable television from its humble beginnings
to the multi-billion dollar industry has become.
Distant Signals, a two-part film, starts in the hills of rural
Pennsylvania where a local salesman took it upon himself to run
a cable from the top of a mountain to his customers homes. Little
did he know that small feat would change how we watch TV forever.
The film includes interviews of key figures who built cable into
what it is today, historical footage of early cable systems and
technology and re-enactments of milestone events in cable’s
fifty-year history.
